Unsung Heroes Living Project

Unsung Heroes is a not-for-profit 501c3 inter-generational oral history project that collects and preserves stories of the African American military experience. The project incorporates elementary, junior high, and high school students in this project by teaching interviewing skills, storyboard development and how to use computerized editing software to produce a mini documentary.

Executive Director - Lisa Daniels

Ms. Daniels has a significant amount of written articles for the Sacramento Observer, Berkeley Daily Planet and more. Not only does she have experience writing but she has produced episodes for "On the Spot," a community interest program appearing on cable stations in San Francisco Bay Area.

Our History

Unsung Heroes Living History Project's vision began in 2000 as a collection of oral histories from veterans and their families documenting the African-American experience in the military. Inquiries to veteran's groups and genealogy websites produced numerous interviewees willing to contribute their stories.
